Christmas in July

Yes, I am one of those crazy people who are nostalgic for the holidays in the middle of the summer. A old high school friend who now calls Australia home, posted a photo from his Christmas in July brunch. The photo sparked my nostalgia. It’s been a common practice for countries in the southern hemisphere to host Christmas in July but the holiday is somewhat limited in the part of the year. On the merchandizing end of July, Xmas good are lacking. Most of the cool kids toys don’t come out till the fall. Heck, Apple usually doesn’t release the next big thing till September or October. So the majority of revealers of the holiday keep to the 12/25 date.

Christmas is my numero uno holiday of the year. Many love Halloween, many enjoy thanksgiving. Xmas to me is the creme de la creme. I love shopping for family and friends and more importantly, I love decor and tradition that comes with the holiday. Right around this time, Clem an attest to this, I can be found watching a xmas movie. Seeing my friends Xmas in July brunch spread sparked my need for more xmas in my life. Things have really been fast and crazy these days. With my mom’s health problems and have all three kids home all day, it’s hard to catch a breath.

Paley and I got up around 7:30 this morning with the twins and I searched for a movie to watch. A came across the remake of “Miracle on 34th Street” (an all time favorite/watch every xmas movie) and Paley’s eye lit up like christmas lights. So here we sit in July watching Santa being treated like a senile old man! Merry Christmas to everyone south of the “THE LINE”
