HK5corner REMODEL: Let There Be Light

On the 640th day, the light returns to HK5corner. We are getting closer and closer to the return to our happy home. Right now our hope is the final inspection happens some time over the next few weeks. For now, the light fixtures are going in thanks in part to PGE finally replacing the damaged pole and installing a transformer in our backyard. Earlier in the project, while I was picking out all the electrical fixtures and creating the electrical order on the project spreadsheet. I was initially shocked the price of lighting these days. One lesson learned, when you see Ralph Lauren pop up in your lighting search, click away.

Kelly Wearstler Melanage Flush Mount

Now I did splurge on the master bedroom lighting. First, there are a few interior designers I love, and their touches are all over the house thanks to their branding partnerships. One designer I love is Kelly Wearstler and her Melange flush mount was perfect for the master bedroom. Well worth the money. Sadly the only Wearstler product in the house, so far. Emphasis on so far! Now that we are nearing the end of the project, I can say that lighting is not the most expensive thing for a construction project. That crown belongs to wallpaper. I will touch base on that in a future post.

The photo is all the rooms lit up in the front of the house, minus the sitting room, because all the fixtures were take down in preparation of the wallpaper install in the room. The lighting is coming together perfectly. The wiring is certainly a challenge once you need to deal with all the switch and outlet installs. One lesson I overlooked in picking out the hardware for all the switches and outlets, always purchase samples and setup a mockup to make sure it looks like, what you see in the photo. The brand I chose, presented as a flushed plate in the photos, after deliver of 110 plates, and the install, there was a spacer not shown in the photo. In the end, the look does mimic some of the bookshelf lives. I am very excited to see all of the electrical to come together in the end.
