What to Watch: Odd Mom for A Smile
With the virus rage happening online, in your home, in the White House and all over the news. It’s time for a little release of tension, look no further than ODD MOM OUT! Yes, I have written a blog post about this show, but I am reposting as I am rewatching the entire 2 seasons. Yes only two season, this show is doable, put it in your queue. Feel the peer pressure. Lets just start with the fact its just pure genius writing. From snarky labels like “Mom-bot Express” or “Gay-Men” aka Amen! The show writers are the amazing writing team of Julie Rottenberg & Julie Rottenberg who gave us Sex & the City. & SMASH.
It’s a precious study on the world upper class while reminding us how we are all just in the same boat. Just like this crazy virus is reminder that we are all in the same Cruise Ship! (too soon?). The show is amazing because it was birthed from its star Jill Kargman and her hit novel Momzillas which was published in 2007. Kargman and her team sculpted the most amazing cast. Newcomer K.K. Glick, who melded with Kargman through 3 seasons and 30 episodes seamlessly. Reminds me of such duos as Lucy & Ethel or Lavern & Shirley. Sadly the show only had 3 seasons. I was devastated when the show went off the air. Two years ago, Clem and I took a dads trip to NYC to go see some shows and I finally took up a friends offer to come visit him at work. One the actors from Odd Mom Out ended up being in the audience, along a few other famous people. I couldn’t hold it in when we were sitting two seats from each other. I just had to share my sadness that they ended his show and gush how amazing the cast was. Now if you watch the show, he became the destruction of the Von’s in the end of the series.
Some of my favorite lines just from the first episode…..“A donut is just gay bagel” and “She’s 7 months pregnant, that baby is going to come out the size of a coke can”. If you can make it to “Omakase” episode, then you are headed in the right direction. Remember it’’s only three seasons, 10 episodes each. It will go fast! What America need in this virus CHAOS…..a season 4, home edition. Please Jill Kargman
