Xmas Movies 3: Damn You Tyler Perry

Last year I posted our Holiday Movie Watch List that’s been grow over the past 20+ years. Each year the list just seems to bigger and bigger. This year, I think I can name only 2 xmas movies actually from last year holiday box office season, that I would add. And no, one of those movies is not Kirk Cameron saving Jesus’s birthday. Please! The man couldn’t act on Growing Pains and I am sure he’s relying on his looks in his xmas film.

Now about Tyler Perry. That son of a gun, got me right in the gut with his big holiday hit in 2013, A Medea Christmas. Yes, I am a huge Medea fan, tickle me silly for a tall man in drag! The story line is actually entertaining and yes my movie fanatic friends, it’s borderline cliche with the whole It’s a Wonderful Life story arch. Well it’s made the list for sure.

Recently I was chatting with a friend about the young actor Thomas Brodie-Sangster (how’s that for a mouthful, thankfully we gave our kids middle names that they can use as a last name, should they become mainstream) and how we like how he is blossoming as an actor. We commented how sad we were that he had such a short lived role in tv series “Game of Thrown’s”. Recently he co-starred in the Maze Runner movie, which to be honest I liked and look forward to the sequel. Then we reminisced about his performance in Love Actually. Then I realized that I had overlooked this movie on our holiday movie list.

Another new movie added to the list from the 2013 holiday season is The Christmas Candle a British film that really wasn’t a hit in the U.S. Although it was a favorite over on the other side of the pond. The cast is not action packed with big names. The only name that will really stick out is singer Susan Boyle (you know the spinster lady who stole the heart of the world when she was discovered on “Britain’s Got Talent”. The story is very old world and lets  be honest, nobody does period movies and TV better than the Brit’s.

So this is our list of movies, gracing the screen. Would have been cool to watch one of these on the big screen in the backyard. Sadly sitting in 50 degree temp weather at night is probably not the best idea.
